# Pricing-friction review analysis: one-page methodology

Updated: 15 August 2026
Corpus end date: 27 July 2026

## Research question

Which pricing and subscription themes recur in retrievable public one- and two-star reviews of manifestation and affirmation apps?

## Source and denominators

The broader read-only corpus contains 56,780 coded public reviews collected from Apple App Store and Google Play listings. Coverage dates and platform mixture differ by app. The analysis denominator is 4,539 retrievable one- and two-star reviews with review text. It is not a count of users, customers, downloads or ratings.

## Coding

Automated multi-label rules marked text associated with six themes: cancellation or refund difficulty; paywall before useful value; surprise charge after a trial; expensive subscription for the perceived value; weekly-subscription distrust; and unclear pricing or renewal terms. A review can match more than one theme.

The union count is 1,047 reviews, or 23.1% of the 4,539-review denominator. The union counts each review once. Individual theme rows overlap and must not be added.

## Limits

Public reviewers are self-selected. Store feeds have retrieval limits. Automated coding can misclassify individual text. Platform coverage differs by product, so the result cannot estimate a population-wide user complaint rate or support a fair cross-app ranking.

## Reuse

The aggregate CSV and charts contain no review text, reviewer names, account identifiers or review identifiers. Reuse is welcome with a link to the research page and the denominator intact.
