GRATITUDE — SELF-CARE JOURNAL

The one that undercuts us.

Verified 4 August 2026 · Hapjoy Technologies Private Limited · 44,904 US ratings, 4.9 average

Every other page here has a section about what the app does well. This one is mostly that section, because Gratitude is cheaper than Foreglow, better rated than Foreglow will plausibly be at launch, and does not use any of the pricing patterns this site was built to argue against.

It is cheaper than us

Gratitude in-app purchases with a stated period, US App Store, 4 August 2026.
PlanPricePer year
Monthly pro plan$4.99$59.88
Quarterly pro plan$9.99$39.96
Annual pro plan$29.99$29.99
Foreglow, yearly$39.99$39.99

No weekly plan. Its monthly price is $4.99 against our $7.99, and its annual plan is $10 a year below ours. On the specific axis this site spends the most time on — honest, non-predatory pricing — Gratitude is doing it properly and we are not going to bury that at the bottom of the page.

Its reviewers are the happiest in the category

Our corpus holds 24,984 coded reviews of Gratitude, dated April 2018 to July 2026. 21,202 of them — 84.9% — are five stars, the highest share of the four apps we have corpus data for. Only 602 are one star.

The dominant theme is journaling and scripting, at 11.2% of coded reviews, roughly four times the rate of any theme in the other apps we measured. It is unambiguously good at the thing it is for.

"I love the convenience of having my gratitude journal with me anywhere I go. The quotes of the day are encouraging as well. Great app!"

5-star review, Android, 13 October 2018

"its one of the best apps. the constant reminder to be grateful and stick to my gratitude journal has been instrumental in working on myself."

5-star review, Android, 21 December 2018

One thing its reviewers keep asking for

Vision-board mentions appear in 1.7% of Gratitude's coded reviews — 422 of them — which is the highest vision-board signal of any app we measured. People use it for that and want more of it.

"I have tried many apps to do vision boards and gratitude journals but none have combined both features this app is PERFECT for me 🙂"

5-star review, Android, 3 January 2021

The other recurring ask is backup and transfer, at 1.0% of coded reviews:

"Help... I got a new phone.. Can anyone help get my backed up journal??? Great to be remembering all the things we are thankful for."

4-star review, Android, 12 July 2020

Foreglow answers that second one differently rather than better: every note exports as an ordinary audio file you can save in Files, share, and keep forever. Because your library is not stored in a Foreglow account, we cannot recover local data for you.

So should you use Gratitude instead?

If what you want is to write things down — a journal, gratitude prompts, scripting, a daily habit with reminders, on either platform, for less money — then yes. It is cheaper, it is more mature, its users are demonstrably happy, and Foreglow does not do journalling at all.

Foreglow only makes sense if the thing you want is audio: a short spoken note about your specific life, in a voice you chose, that plays at 6am or loops while you fall asleep without you reading anything. Those are different needs. Plenty of people have both, and there is no reason you cannot use both.

WHY THIS PAGE READS LIKE THIS

A comparison page that finds every competitor worse than the author is not a comparison, it is an advertisement. Gratitude beat us on price and on rating, so the page says so. If that costs us a sale to someone who would have been happier there, the page did its job.
