HOW IT WORKS
Hear from the person you're becoming.
Foreglow makes a short voice note that speaks to you from a point in your life you have not reached yet — using your name, your details, and the past tense. Not a plan. A recording of it already having happened.
This one is generic on purpose — it is the sample, so it has no name in it. Yours says your name, and knows what you are working toward.
What actually happens when you open it?
You move through a guided introduction that takes about four minutes, including optional detail fields you can skip. There is no personality quiz and no screen asking your income.
Foreglow then writes and speaks a 45–59-second note from those answers. Generation time varies with your connection. The finished note is yours — stored on your phone, playable offline and exportable as an audio file whenever you want.
Why is it spoken in the past tense?
Because "you will get there" is a promise, and a promise from an app is worth nothing. "You walked in like the room was yours" is a description. It is a different thing to listen to at 6am on a hard day.
This is a framing device, not a mechanism. Foreglow does not claim the recording causes anything to happen. It is a thing you made, in a voice you chose, that you can play when you need it.
Whose voice is it?
Yours, if you want. There are three routes: five prepared voices chosen for warmth rather than polish; your own voice, read aloud once into the app across about twelve sentences; or a private model of your voice, built only after explicit consent and deleted the moment you ask.
Three things use a server: writing the note from your answers, turning that text into speech, and building or using a voice model. Your library — saved notes and audio, your board, your history — stays on the phone, and nothing is sent that is not needed for the generation you asked for. What if it gets a detail wrong?
Hold the sentence and say what is true instead. If the note says you moved to Lisbon in the spring and you moved in September with the cat, you correct it once and every note after that knows.
This matters more than it sounds. A note that gets your own life wrong is worse than no note, and most apps in this category have no way to fix it short of starting over.
What is the night loop?
The note repeats on a screen gone almost black, quietly, until you stop it. It is built for the ten minutes before you fall asleep, which is when most people who use something like this actually use it.
It is a playback mode, nothing more. No claim is being made about what listening while you sleep does.
Where the board comes in
Alongside the audio there is a board: your own photos, a few words, arranged, and exported as a lock-screen wallpaper. The point is that you see it a hundred times a day without opening anything.
