I AM — DAILY AFFIRMATIONS
The widget is the product.
Verified 4 August 2026 · Monkey Taps · 725,382 US ratings, 4.8 averageI am is the largest app in this category by a distance — 725,382 US ratings against Stella's 4,189 — and it earned that. This page starts with what it is good at, because with a corpus this size the answer is unusually clear.
What its reviewers actually praise
Our corpus holds 17,146 coded reviews of I am, dated April 2015 to July 2026 (15,242 Android, 1,904 iOS). The single most-mentioned theme is not the affirmations. It is the home-screen widget, at 2.7% of coded reviews — ahead of every other positive theme.
"I have the widget on my homescreen and I love reading these affirmations every time I pick my phone up! it's be n very helpful"

"such an amazing app! I love the affirmation widget that I can have on my home screen, it helps so much with my self esteem!"
5-star review, Android, 6 May 2022
That is a real product insight and worth taking seriously: what people wanted was not a session to open, it was a line of text where they already look. 13,013 of the 17,146 reviews in our corpus are five stars.

The complaint that keeps recurring
Paywall-before-value appears in 1.8% of coded reviews, cancellation and refund trouble in 1.3%, and unusable-free-tier in 0.7%. Those percentages are small; the absolute numbers are not — 316 paywall complaints and 223 cancellation complaints in one sample.
"I hate that I have to pay for everything and or download different things but over all a good app helped me with body positivity"
4-star review, Android, 8 September 2025
"On the free trial and it won't let me unsubscribe 😞 feel like this is a scam and they just want to take my money."
1-star review, Android, 22 December 2023
Note the four-star review. The most common shape of an I am complaint is not "this app is bad" — it is someone who likes it and resents the gate.
What it costs
I am's App Store listing discloses monthly, yearly and lifetime purchases, with billing periods written into the names. Unlike two other apps in this comparison set, there is no weekly plan, and we will give it that clearly.
| Plan | Price | Per year |
|---|---|---|
| I am Premium (1 month) | $14.99 | $179.88 |
| I am Premium (1 year) | $59.99 | $59.99 |
| I am Premium (Lifetime) | $149.99 | one-off |
| Foreglow, yearly | $39.99 | $39.99 |
The listing shows six further purchases named simply "I am Premium" at $9.99 to $69.99 with no period stated; those are excluded here rather than guessed at.
Who should pick I am over Foreglow
Genuinely: a lot of people. If you want a large library of written affirmations, a widget on your home screen, an Android app, and a category leader with a decade of iteration behind it, I am is the better choice and this page is not going to argue otherwise.
Who Foreglow is for instead
Foreglow is not a library. It makes one thing about you — a spoken note using your name and your actual circumstances, in a voice you chose, that you can correct when it gets a detail wrong and keep as a file forever. It is audio-first rather than text-first, and there is no widget.
The honest summary: I am gives you many good sentences written for everyone. Foreglow gives you a few sentences written about you, spoken aloud. Those are different products, and the price difference between $59.99 and $39.99 a year is not the interesting part.
